THE VERDICT

The Boot Trekker is the kind of ski boot bag that actually makes the task of getting your gear from the car to the lodge simple and easy. It has plenty of room for all the essentials, it features a thoughtful design, and it includes not only the features you expect a boot bag to have, but also many added details that make life a little less stressful. It is well-constructed with high-quality materials that are likely to stand up to years of use. The Boot Trekker is expensive, but proves to be a good investment.

FULL REVIEW

Construction
The Boot Trekker is made from a combination of water-resistant nylon on the majority of the bag with the bottom section made from a waterproof material. The bag features thick rolled seams with double stitching and heavy-duty zippers on all the pockets. The shoulder and waist straps are as thick and as cushioned as most high-end daypacks and the grab handle on top of the bag is solid and rubberized. Thick metal grommets are included on the bottom of each boot compartment and side ventilation flaps that can be opened or closed, provide even more air circulation if necessary.

Versatility
Although the shape of the Boot Trekker leaves no doubt that this is first and foremost a ski boot bag, the Boot Trekker’s design and construction make it extremely versatile. The main compartment of the bag is big enough to hold a helmet, but the stashable helmet sling can also free up that valuable space for other gear when needed. The Boot Trekker also provides plenty of room for water bottles, lunch, and almost everything else you might need, making it the only bag you have to carry to the lodge. It also functions equally well as a travel ski bag providing enough capacity to hold your ski gear as well as other carry-on essentials.

Portability
The Boot Trekker is a big bag and might seem a little cumbersome for some smaller-framed skiers, but the well-designed strap system on the Boot Trekker makes it comfortable and easy to transport even over long distances. Both the shoulder straps and waist belt are contoured and feature thick padding. There are several adjustments that allow the straps to be positioned to make them comfortable for different sized users. The thick and rubberized grab handle on the top of the bag is easy to grab and pull the bag out of the car or locker.

Features
The Boot Trekker is an extremely feature-rich bag. From big components such as the strategically placed goggle pouch with soft lining and the designated glove pockets to the small details that tend to make a big difference like pack release buckles, ID holder pocket, and even glow in the dark zipper pulls, the Boot Trekker has features that will appeal to nearly every type of skier.

Design
The Boot Trekker is as well-designed of a bag as any we tested. The boot compartments on the side of the bag are easy to access and store the boots in and the separate compartments in the bag make it easy to access and organize gear. The glove pockets are positioned in the front of the bag to keep them dry, separate from your other gear, and easily accessible. From one end to the other, the Boot Trekker seems to be designed to maximize functionality and performance in a boot bag.

How We Tested It

The ski boot bags in this test were used year-round to simulate more than just one season of use. Each bag was tested with a variety of sizes of ski boots as well as with other items through the summer for various activities and adventures.
