While one of our testers absolutely loved this ski for its edging and power, other felt that a lack of ease of initiation and adaptability had them concentrating on the mechanics of each turn too much. Flexibility and longer turns were also a strong suit. |

How We Tested It
All of the skis presented here were tested during a one-week period in the spring of 2011 on the top section of the mountain at Le Massif in Quebec. With sunny days and packed powder to hardpack conditions, our test focused on lift-served oriented skis, particularly high-performance skis aimed at advanced to expert skiers. Our more than one dozen testers included several professional ski instructors and coaches, and professional freeriders and retail shop owners, all with extensive experience evaluating and testing skis, including during the R&D process, and also in choosing which brands and models to carry in their shops. All evaluations and ratings were made using a combination of each tester’s comments and the written results on their nine-category rating sheet (which included ratings on each ski’s stability, initiation, energy, edge hold, forgiveness, ability to make short turns, ability to make long turns, versatility in varied conditions and turn shapes, as well as overall use). All of these reviews are based on the opinions of our testers, and the snow conditions and condition of the equipment during each day of the test.
The products featured in this test have been loaned to the Gear Institute. For more on our policies regarding editorial objectivity and sample returns, see here.
