THE GOOD

  • Good balance of style and function
  • Available in a wide variety of colors
  • Lightweight material

THE BAD

  • Holds sweat and moisture
  • Not as compressive as others in the test
  • Material wears down after a few months of wear

THE VERDICT

The Energy Bra is one of Lululemon’s top selling bras and is a favorite for its strappy back and perfect balance of style and function. The four way stretch material is breathable and supportive, but it is not the most moisture wicking or compressive of the bras in the test group. It is a fantastic all-around running bra that is great for all-day wear, running, or the gym.

FULL REVIEW

Comfort
The Lululemon Energy Bra is a comfortable sports bra with a fun strappy style that feels almost as good as it looks. With minimal seams in all the right places, the bra fits comfortably and moves well with your body. The compression is just enough for running without being too much to still feel comfortable for everyday wear.

Fit/Mobility
The bra is medium compression and is ideal for light to moderate exercise including running, yoga, and the gym. It stays put as you move and does not chafe. The bra fits and moves well even with a basic looking design.

Support
The energy bra is a moderate compression sports bra that is ideal for the gym and yoga, or running for small to medium cup sizes.

Breathability
For average temperatures and weather the bra is light and breathable. When the weather gets hot and humid, the bra will hold some moisture and show sweat marks, while still maintaining comfort.

Style/Design
A basic scoop design in the front is enhanced with multiple crossing straps in the back. The bra comes in as many as ten colors, prints, and patterns that change regularly each season.

How We Tested It

Fifteen bras were tested for a duration of three months over hundreds of miles on dirt trails, roads, and the track. Women with A to B cup sizes wore the running bras for easy paced runs, hard effort workouts, long runs, and at the gym. The tester’s five top scoring running bras are featured in the test group.
