2016 Summer Outdoor Retailer Gear Preview (Part 1)

This week the attention of the outdoor industry will turn to Salt Lake City, Utah where the semi-annual Outdoor Retailer convention will get underway. Over the course of the next few days, hundreds – if not thousands – of new products will be introduced, many of which could have a direct impact on the activities that we enjoy so much. Here's a sampling of some of the more interesting new products that will make their way to store shelves in the months to come.

Lightweight and highly functional, this new backpack from Mystery Ranch features a carbon fiber suspension system paired with innovative fabrics designed to help shed ounces without sacrificing durability. The multi-day pack is spacious enough to carry all of your gear for extended trips in the backcountry and the lid even converts into a summit pack that uses the main pack's yoke and harnessing. Jetboil is looking to change the game once again, this time with a new single burner stove. The MightMo weighs just 3.3 ounces, and yet it is capable of putting out 10,000 BTU of power. Designed for consistent performance in temperatures as low as 20ºF, this tiny stove promises to deliver unprecedented control while in the backcountry.

KEEN Terradora Mid WP Boots
Believe it or not, the Terradora is the first women's specific hiking boot that KEEN has ever produced. Designed for use both on the trail and around town, these shoes promise to blend style, comfort, and fit in a seamless fashion. Lightweight and very stable, KEEN says that this boot will feel like a trail runner but have the support of a hiker. The Terradora will be available in both a mid ($140) and low version ($130) when they ship to retail.

Brooks Running is bringing a new trail shoe to the market, and it looks like it could be a real winner. The Caldera has been built from the ground up for technical trails and comes equipped with a sticky rubber outsole built for traction on those surfaces. It has an integrated gaiter tab, a midsole designed for added stability, and an innovative lug configuration that Brooks says will provide better footing in all conditions.
