About Allison Pattillo

Allison began her lifelong love affair with running by process of elimination. Ball sports were scary, sailing and water skiing required expensive boats and cycling had yet to take hold in her coastal Maryland stomping grounds. Running afforded the freedom to simply step out the door and go. 5k’s and marathons led to IM70.3 races and eventually to her new favorite format, stage racing.

A former editor at Trail Runner magazine, Allison is now a freelance gear, fitness and lifestyle writer and editor. Her work regularly appears in Women’s Running magazine, as well as the Military Times newspapers. She has also written about running and gear for Backpacker magazine, iRunFar.com, Running Times online, Runner’s World online edition, Elevation Outdoors magazine, Snowshoe magazine and Active Gear Review.

Allison now has the unique, and ever challenging, experience of living at 9,000 feet in the mountains of Colorado, which makes for great gear testing conditions.
